So who is next for the winners of UFC 110?

Who won:

Cain Velazquez

Wanderlei Silva

George Sotiropoulos

Cro Cop

Cain Velazquez: He is only 8-0 and just beat someone who is considered one of the top heavyweights of all time. According to Dana White, he will get the first shot at Lesnar when he comes back; if the winner of Mir Carwin is injured and won’t be able to make the UFC 116 which is roughly 7 months away. A 7 month lay off may not be the best for Cain, who has been fighting roughly every 4 months. The 7th marked a year since he beat Denis Stonjic and really started getting people talking. The problem in handling Velazquez is if the UFC does not give him a title shot, they run the risk of him losing. He is a hot commodity right now, is it worth it to have him run the risk of losing?

Wanderlei Silva: Rumors are saying Akiyama will be next which would be great. If he defeats Akiyama, hmmm, that’s when things would get interesting really quick.

George Sotiropoulos : George proved once again that the ground game isn’t boring. I myself underestimated his grappling abilities and chose Joe Daddy to win. I wasn’t expecting it to be all Stevenson. I predicted a hard fought fight at least, well that tuned in to a big NOPE. With this win George does raise his stock in to the upper tier, just not quite worthy of a title shot. He needs one more win under his belt so give him Gray Maynard. That could be fun to watch, yes?

Cro Cop : Give him Big Ben like he was supposed to. They could be ready by 112 or 113 with some luck. If he gets through Ben then we can talk about the idea of Cro Cop being “back.”

Over all UFC 110 proved to be a great night of fights. From here onward it just looks like sun shine and daisies as the curse of the random injury seems to have lifted…for now.
